  • This Guy’s Wife Made His Life Hell, So He Wrote A List On The Bedroom Mirror.

Mental illness doesn't just affect the person living with it. Family and friends see the individual suffering and often feel powerless and frustrated. Close to 20 per cent of Americans suffer from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and other mental disorders.

Many suffer quietly from fear of the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness. Consequently, less than half of those affected ever seek treatment. Struggling with everyday things like work, relationships, and even doing fun things turn into an increasingly difficult task for many.

A husband saw how much his wife was feeling overwhelmed. Despite wanting to share the joys of being a newlywed, she was having a hard time juggling all the things in her life at the moment. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do to make her feel she was not alone. So he chose to give her a little reminder to lift her spirits even if it was just temporary.

Nearly 1 in 5 Americans suffer from mental illness every year.

Almost 9 million adults experience “serious mental illness” where it impedes their ability to work and juggle everyday activities.

One husband wrote a list of all the wonderful things about his wife.

He wanted to remind her all the wonderful things that he loves and admires about her.

The 15 reasons this husband loves his wife.

    1. She is my best friend
    2. She never quits on herself or me
    3. She gives me time to work on my crazy projects
    4. She makes me laugh, everyday
    5. She is gorgeous
    6. She accepts the crazy person i am
    7. She's the kindest person i know
    8. She's got a beautiful singing voice
    9. She's gone to a strip club with me
    10. She has experienced severe tragedy yet is the most optimistic person about humanity i know
    11. She has been fully supportive about my career choices and followed me each time
    12. Without realizing it, she makes me want to do more for her than i have ever wanted to do for anyone
    13. She's done an amazing job at advancing her career path
    14. Small animals make her cry
    15. She snorts when she laughs

The woman shared what her husband's encouraging words meant to her.

I've been juggling a LOT lately. Trying to do well at work. Just got married. Couldn't afford a wedding. Family is sparse. Falling out with friends, yaddadyadda. But, the thing is, amidst all the struggle, my husband has relentlessly tried to cheer me up. I've not been the easiest person to deal with. In fact, sometimes I've lost all hope and even taken my frustration out on my new husband. But he somehow forgives me every time. I have a long journey ahead of me, and I know he probably realizes I'm depressed. But he holds my hand, and he tries his best. Today when I came home from a trip to SF, I flopped onto my bed in tears. I looked to my left, and saw these words painted all across my mirror. I think he wanted me to remember how much he loves me. Because he knows how quickly I forget. He knows I struggle to see good in the world, and especially the good in myself. But here it is. A testament and gesture of his love. Damn, I needed it today…

I'm not saying mental illness is cured by nice words on a mirror. In fact, it takes professional care, love, empathy, sometimes even medication just to cope. Many people struggle with it mental illness – more than we probably even realize. And instead of showing them hate or anger when they act out. Show them kindness and remind them things can and WILL get better. Everyone needs a little help sometimes. If that person can't be you – see if you have any resources for therapy.

EDIT: The thing is… I am not "too good" or "not good enough" for my husband. We all have our down days. And sometimes we don't handle it well. BUT, we are partners. He is here for me when I'm down. And I cherish that. And he has his down days, too. And I will be there to hold his hand, just like he holds mine. Life can be hard. The answer is never to mock, scoff, or belittle someone. Be kind. Be the best version of yourself. And be most of all- be patient.

I'm still struggling, but I'm glad I have my other half to help me make it through. It may just be a few words on my mirror, but I'll look at them when I wake up and know I'm not alone. I'll know I have my bestfriend, my co-pilot in life to help guide me through.

Next, a girl left a hidden note behind a mirror to her family before she passed away.

  • Single Dad Couldn’t Do His Daughter’s Hair, Which Gave Him An Awesome Idea.

    cdn.lifebuzz.com_images_165455_lifebuzz-34ec5f7078a0e86375c6af0c2395823a-thumb_800

Dads love their kids and will do anything to go above and beyond the call of duty; playing every game their child can imagine. There is another breed of dads though, who do not mind breaking out of their comfort zone just to make life easier and more fun for their children.

Single dads often have to figure out things on their own. Their former partner, friends, and family can give advice once in a while but it’s never the same as being there in the trenches. Greg Wickherst wants to make sure his daughter Izzy is getting the same care and attention as other little girls who live with their moms.

The college admissions counselor separated from his wife and is caring for Izzy most of the time. Feeding, dressing, playing, and just being there for her was something that came easily for Wickherst. Except the burly man was lacking a particular skill in one parenting area.

Wickherst first attempt at styling his daughter's hair was trimming her hair with craft scissors.

And it wasn’t just giving her a haircut that was a problem. Wickherst didn’t even know how to put her hair in a simple ponytail.

"I used to just part her hair. Then one day I started trying to put pony tails in and for some reason, I couldn’t figure it out," he says.

Wickherst decided to give up a couple of lunch hours to visit the cosmetology department at IntelliTec College, where he works.

"I used to just part her hair. Then one day I started trying to put pony tails in and for some reason, I couldn’t figure it out," he says.

Wickherst asked the cosmetology students to teach him how to style his daughter's hair.

“I asked them to give me some pointers,” admits Wickherst.

For Wickherst and Izzy, hairstyling brought more to them than nice hairdos.

  • Ever Wondered Why Some Plugs Have 3 Prongs Instead Of 2?

    cdn.lifebuzz.com_images_164776_lifebuzz-5c8095cb9b88f9257fbceee1f01dbc25-thumb_800

We have all seen the different kind of outlets that are in our walls. They seem to be different wherever you go. A lot of people wonder why there are three on some while there are only two on some others. On the outlets that have three holes, two of them actually go to the same source. The one on the left and the one on the bottom are the neutral and ground wires and when you follow them you realize they go to the same place.

This is your basic 3 hole outlet.

Most appliances that are made of metal use the three prong electrical cords. These would be toasters, computers, stoves, refrigerators and such.

    Homepower

Here is an old 2 hole outlet. You probably wouldn't want to use this one!

On rare occasions, there is a wire inside that may come loose and start to conduct electricity along the metal surface. This wouldn't be good for anyone that might touch it. That third prong eliminates that issue from happening.

It accomplishes this by being connected to the shell of the appliance and it goes through the outlet and down into the ground.

This would take that current, even if it's running through the shell of the appliance, and lead it away.

This way even if you touch it, you would still be safe.

Some people remove this bottom prong if they don't have a three holed outlet, but you should know that it's very dangerous to do so.

  • Could These Food Habits Help You Live Longer? Science Says Yes

    media.galaxant.com_000_480_916_340x252-1475862600

It’s no secret that maintaining a healthy diet and exercise plan is key to living longer. That being said, doing that would be a lot easier if we all lived in nations around the world that have been classified as “blue zones.”

David Katz, president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, was able to pinpoint five blue zones across the world where thousands of people live to 100 and beyond. This discovery is the end result of over a decade of research. Areas with the highest concentrations of centenarians on Earth are Ikaria, Greece; Okinawa, Japan; Ogliastra, Sardinia; Loma Linda, California; and the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica.

To help you live more than a century, here are the best dietary habits from each blue zone.

    1. Loma Linda, California

This community is filled with Seventh-Day Adventists, many of whom outlive most Americans by over a decade. This Christian group practices a strict routine in terms of diet and fitness. They avoid meat and dairy products at all costs. While some eat meat in moderation, this area of California is mostly vegan. They center their diets around grains, nuts, and legumes, and quench their thirst by drinking only water.

    2. Sardinia, Italy

The people pf Sardinia are known for growing their own food and living off the land. This allows them to eat the freshest foods while getting a good amount of exercise. The cost of slaughtering animals is incredibly high, so meat consumption is saved for special occasions. They typically stick with a diet of fish, vegetables, and whole grain foods, all of which are beneficial to cardiovascular health.

    3. Okinawa, Japan

With crystal blue oceans, it’s not hard to believe that the people of Okinawa rely heavily on a fish-based diet. However, you might be surprised to learn that soybeans also play an important role in their longevity. These beans are full of protein and carbohydrates and low on fat. Because stir-fry is so popular in this blue zone, it’s worth noting that people’s diets in Okinawa are packed with veggies.

    4. Ikaria, Greece

Like those in Sardinia, the people of Ikaria reap the benefits of a Mediterranean diet. Meal portions are reminiscent of Spanish tapas, which means that they’re pretty small. Products made with goat and sheep’s milk along with bread made of wheat, rye, and barley are key components of the Ikarian diet. These whole grain breads help increase fiber intake. The people of Ikaria experience a 20 percent lower risk of cancer than Americans.

    5. The Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

Meals in the Nicoya Peninsula are typically cooked earlier in the day than we are accustomed to. People in the region also believe in eating what is necessary and nothing more. Science has proven that the combination of eating early and only eating what is essential can help extend a person’s life by at least a few years.

If you’re already a coffee addict, you’ll be excited to know that these people consume a ton of the stuff. Coffee is believed to help cut down the risk of dementia and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Listen, I’m not worried about whether or not I’ll make it to 100, so I think I’ll keep focusing on living life to the fullest with a cheeseburger and fries every now and then. What about you? Does this make you want to change your eating habits?

    media.galaxant.com_000_481_017_340x252-1475940686

Thirteen-year-old Momo’s life should be close to over, but thanks to an anti-aging drug, the adorable pomsky is running around and playing with more vigor than dogs a third of his age.

The drug, called rapamycin, was originally developed as a cancer treatment for humans, but after discovering that it extended the lives of mice by up to 60 percent, researchers decided to test it out on dogs.

The effects have been astonishing. Before beginning a rapamycin regimen six months ago, Momo could only be active for about ten minutes before he needed to rest. Now he can run for over an hour without getting worn out!

Don’t believe me? Just watch him in action.

Momo’s brother, Sherman, has also reaped the benefits of this miracle drug.

The two became candidates for rapamycin after they were abandoned with their groomer on Christmas Eve in 2010. The business owner, Paola Anderson, happily became the duo’s new mom, but it wasn’t long before Sherman fell ill and had a stroke. Anderson was told that without surgery, Sherman would only live for another two weeks.

Incredibly, this is Sherman today. Anderson refused the surgery and instead contacted the Aging Dog Project. Sherman became a test subject for rapamycin, which improved his health drastically within days.

If scientists can add years to your dog’s life, could they do the same for you?

More studies need to be carried out to know for sure, but Dr. Monica Mita said, “The rapamycin story is one of the most surprising, enticing, satisfying, and unique stories in the history of medicine. The end is not near.”

The future is now. Sign me up!

  • Everyone Ignored This Paralyzed Pup, But One Woman Decided To Save Him

    media.galaxant.com_000_480_928_340x252-1475867826

In June 2014, Canadian model Meagan Penman took a trip to Thailand.

She expected to spend the vacation soaking up the sun with her toes in the sand, but what she found on the beach changed her plans. It was a sight that instantly broke her heart, but what stunned her more was the fact that no one stopped to help.

Much to her surprise, a paralyzed dog was living on the shore, slowly dragging himself from place to place to scavenge for food.

No one had taken the time to help the poor thing.

Penman knew she couldn’t leave the animal to suffer. She decided to take him to a local vet for treatment.

Once there, he got a much-needed bath. Penman couldn’t help herself — she was already falling in love with the little guy and calling him “Leo.”

Leo also got an x-ray, which confirmed what they’d expected. His spine was broken, and he would probably never use his back legs again. The theory was that he’d most likely been hit by a car or motorcycle.

However, with just a little bit of love and affection, Leo was already a much happier dog. Penman knew she had to bring him home to Canada, but how? Transporting an animal is expensive, and she didn’t have the money to pay for it herself.

But after two months of fundraising, the Good Samaritan had enough money to bring Leo home.

After a long and expensive ordeal, they touched down on Canadian soil. Although the model’s busy schedule wouldn’t allow her to adopt Leo herself, she found a home for him with a kind woman named Jamie.

Leo was in a safe and loving home at last, but he wasn’t quite out of the woods. The poor guy needed to be neutered, get a wheelchair, and deal with some unanticipated urinary issues.

Before long, however, Leo was up and running — literally! A doggy wheelchair allowed him more freedom and mobility than he’d had in a long time.

Frequent urinary tract and bladder infections make it hard for Leo to use the bathroom properly, so he wears cloth baby diapers when he’s inside.

Leo’s had a lot of new adventures since he’s been in Canada. He’s been to campfires…

    ….met Santa…

    …made new friends….

…and even rocked some awesome outfits!

Most of the time, though, Leo can be found hanging out with his mom. He’s forever grateful to the two women who went to incredible lengths to save his life.

If you’ll excuse me, I need to go deal with all of this cuteness.

  • Here Are Some Adorable Cows Sitting Like Dogs…Because The World Is Good

    media.galaxant.com_000_481_001_340x252-1475896283

In elementary school we were always asked open-ended questions such as, “If you could be any animal, what would you be?”

While some more adventurous kids would give wild answers like elephants and alligators, I was always firm in my decision to be a dog. I mean, let’s get real for a second — name one animal that’s better than a dog. They can do all kind of tricks, they hate cats as much as I do, and they’re literally nicknamed man’s best friend.

And since they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I can totally relate when these country cows decided to become one with their inner dog.

These cows discovered that they could live their best lives by sitting like dogs.

Whether they’re lounging around the barn…

    Or enjoying the scenic view.

“If dogs can do it, I can too!”

“I believe in equality for both farm and domestic animals.”

“I no longer have to be ashamed of being a cow. I can sit like a dog with my head held high.”

“I’ll lie around on the hood of your car, just because I can.”

Dogs better watch their backs, or pretty soon we’ll be calling cows man’s new best friend.

Don’t be surprised if I start playing fetch or barking at people in public. I’m just living out my childhood dreams.
