  • Body Cam Footage Captures Cop Planting Cocaine On Suspect

    media.galaxant.com_000_505_932_340x252-1511793892

In response to recent instances of police brutality, more and more people have been calling for police officers to wear body cameras.

Proponents argue that the cameras protect both the police and the people they serve, showing exactly what happened in any given interaction. They’re not perfect devices, and they aren’t useful in every situation, but it could be argued that it’s the best solution we have right now.

One case in Los Angeles is proving that body cam footage can be used to help those who are wrongly accused. When a man was stopped by police, the camera footage revealed the officer planting a bag of cocaine on the suspect, lying to his fellow officers at the scene about where it was found.

Ultimately, this is a betrayal of this man, the other officers, and the community. Learn more in the video below.

Fortunately, the LAPD has opened an investigation into this awful incident. Public outcry means that hopefully more body cameras will be put in place to protect innocent people.

  • Baby Saying ‘Oh No’ After Sneezing Will Give You The Ten Cutest Seconds Of Your Life

    media.galaxant.com_000_505_930_340x252-1511792775

You’re probably not going to be shocked when I say that babies do some pretty cute things.

After all, that’s kind of the point of babies. They’re super cute and we have the natural instincts to protect and cherish them until they can take care of themselves. The little tykes can also be kind of hilarious, especially when they do things that make them seem like little adults.

One baby boy had a pretty awesome reaction to sneezing so his mom grabbed a camera to film it all.

What he says will have you smiling instantly. Doesn’t it make you just want to squeeze him?

    Every Day Heroes

It can be an extremely nerve-racking experience meeting someone new, especially if you admire them. Making a good impression is pretty important, but sometimes the anxiety can get the best of you and you can end up looking pretty silly. A little boy in Florida has proven that with a little creativity things can turn out fantastic.

    Every Day Heroes

    Amanda Cantin/10 News WTSP

There’s a saying that goes “never meet your heroes,” but whoever came up with that probably never met someone like Noah Smiling from Lakeland, Florida. The 9-year-old boy recently got to see one of his heroes up close and personal. What happened was so unexpected that it left everyone with a heartwarming experience.

When Noah grows up he’s decided that he wants to be a police officer. Because he idolizes them so much, every time he sees a cop he is in complete awe of them. Which is exactly what happened one morning at Denny’s while having breakfast with his mom. What Noah saw instantly made him freeze.

While having breakfast, Noah was just a few tables away from Lakeland PD officer Eddie Benitez, who was eating alone. His mother described Noah’s excitement in an interview: “‘Mom, there’s a police officer down there!” I said, “Yeah, I know. I seen him when I walked in!” Noah was nervous while thinking about what to do.

Even though Noah really wanted to talk to Benitez, he’s a pretty shy kid and couldn’t think of what to say. While he continued eating, Noah thought really hard about how he could go up to the officer. All of sudden, he thought of a plan and he told his mother. She thought it was perfect as she watched her son put it into action.

Noah walked up to the counter and talked to one of the waitresses working. He explained to the waitress what he wanted. She walked away and came back seconds later with paper and a pen. After she handed it to Noah, he began writing. What Noah wrote on that paper will leave you in tears.

After Noah was done writing, he slowly walked to the table Benitez was sitting at. Even though he was extremely nervous, he managed to get the courage to walk up to him and give him the paper. The officer was confused at first by the paper that Noah handed him.

To his complete surprise, Benitez was handed the receipt for his breakfast. Noah had just turned nine a few days before and had received some money as a birthday gift. Noah decided to use some of that money to buy Benitez his breakfast. But that wasn’t it – Noah had also written a note for Benitez.

The note had said: “I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service. Noah Smiling.” The officer was completely taken by surprise. After all, what nine-year-old pays for someone’s meal? Benitez knew he had to show Noah his appreciation.

Officer Benitez immediately walked over to Noah and asked to take a picture with him. Noah was ecstatic! Not only did he get to meet someone he considered a hero, he got to take a picture with him, as well. Noah’s mother posted the picture on Facebook, not knowing the attention it would bring.

  • The 15 Best Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed In Your Favorite Animated Films.

    cdn.lifebuzz.com_images_231184_lifebuzz-83e47a20574ca325c1ee6a42680cb053-thumb_800

    A Life Of Crime

Animation gives artists the creative freedom to run with their imagination and create whatever it is that they want. Included in that are little secrets and references that are hidden in plain sight, these are called Easter eggs. They can be found in quite a few movies. But have you ever seen one with your own two eyes?

    A Life Of Crime

    Walt Disney Pictures

In the show "Big Hero 6," Sergeant Gerson appeared as the police officer who took Hiro’s report about Yokai and the theft of his Microbots. In the end of movie credits, Gerson appears again. In his office a wanted poster with a picture of Hans, the villain in "Frozen," can be seen. Since we’re on the topic of "Frozen," you might have missed this Easter egg of Anna and Elsa!

    Playing Dress-Up

    Playing Dress-Up

    Walt Disney Pictures

Thanks to all of the wide shots making it easy to hide little details, "Zootopia" is a great place for Easter eggs.. One that can be found is during a winter scene where an elephant family can be seen taking their daughters ice-skating. Looking close enough, you can see that the daughters are dressed like Elsa and Anna from "Frozen." The next film shows a part of history you may be too young to remember.

    Beam Me Up

    Beam Me Up

Our next movie, "Wall-E" takes place in the year 2805, when the Earth is uninhabitable and all the humans have left. Wall-E begins following Eve by holding on to her mothership and cruises past a bunch of derelict satellites. You may be surprised, but one of the satellites is Sputnik I, the first satellite ever launched by the USSR. Since old references are making an appearance, check out this next one.

At times, animators like to show their respect for the movie classics. A scene in "The Secret Life Of Pets" shows Chloe reminding Pops that she’s a cat, and he replies, “Well, nobody’s perfect.” This line actually comes from the last line in the movie "Some Like It Hot," with Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis. The next Easter egg might make you question some things.

    What's Cooking?

In the movie "Inside Out," there’s a scene in which Riley can be seen playing in the living room. On top of the table where she’s sitting is a stack of magazines, on top is a magazine called Haute Dish. We can only assume it’s a cooking magazine, because Colette, the chef from "Ratatouille" is on the cover, but who knows. The next two movies are definitely one in the same.

The giant hook of Maui’s plays a huge role in "Moana," as part of the origins of the islanders. Nani’s boyfriend, David Kawena, wears a very similar hook as a necklace in "Lilo & Stitch." It makes perfect sense to believe, in the world of Disney, of course, that the people of modern-day Hawaii are descendants of Moana and her people. Wait until you see who this next character is based on.

    Mixed-Up Perfectly

Michael J. Fox was a pretty big star in the 80s. So, you’re probably not surprised that when Aladdin was being drawn, animators wanted him to look like Fox. Once they did a few screen tests, animators realized he looked too boyish. So, they decided to throw in some of Tom Cruise’s features, as well. Now that we’re talking about Aladdin, where do you think that lamp is hanging out these days?

When Judy the bunny and Nick the fox are investigating Emmitt Otterton’s disappearance in "Zootopia," they check for clues at the Mystic Spring Oasis. When they arrive, they’re let in by the owner Yax. Next to the door is a shelf with several objects on it. One of those objects is none other than the genie’s lamp from "Aladdin"! Even you may have noticed the next one on our list!

    Not Your Typical Marshmallow

    Not Your Typical Marshmallow

    Walt Disney Pictures

In the beginning of "Moana," the children were being told the legends of Maui the Demigod defeating a flurry of monsters by the grandmother. Moana’s father rudely interrupted to tell the children that such things don’t exist, but while doing so he accidentally unrolled tapestries that showed the legends. On the first tapestry is a reference to Marshmallow, the enormous ice monster in "Frozen"! Next up is another loved character based on someone famous!

    For Little Girls

The animator of "The Little Mermaid," Glen Keane, wanted Ariel to look attractive, but he also wanted her to be relatable for little girls. Keane ended up taking his inspiration from actress Alyssa Milano, who at the time, was a teenager. Another fun fact: the movement of Ariel’s hair was created by taking the footage of astronaut Sally Ride in outer space. If you consider yourself an art buff, you may have noticed the next one.

In a scene from "Beauty And The Beast," Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth and Lumière hold a secret meeting to figure out how to get Belle to fall in love with the Beast. The scene takes place in a hallway that’s filled with sculptures and paintings. One of those paintings is actually the infamous "Girl With A Pearl Earring," by artist Johannes Vermeer. The next one is hidden in a scene that spoofs a well-known TV show.

    Breaking Bad

    Breaking Bad

    Walt Disney Pictures/Ron Asadorian

In "Zootopia," the plot revolves around the illegal operation that creates the blue serum that turns all of the animals wild. If you didn’t notice, it’s a poke at the show "Breaking Bad." But that’s not the only Easter egg. In Woolter’s lab there’s a board with photos pinned all over it. One of those photos makes fun of the “Sad Keanu” meme. You probably only caught the next one if you’re good at geography.

    Bonded By Africa

    Bonded By Africa

In "Madagascar 2," Alex the lion is on the island where he was born and he gets reunited with his long-lost parents, Zuba and Florrie. They realized their relation when they found out Alex and his dad had matching birthmarks on their right paws. If you’re paying close attention, you can see the birthmark looks just like Africa! This next Easter egg with make you wonder what the backstory is.

    A Family Home

    A Family Home

    Pixar Animation Studios

In the movie "Inside Out," there’s a scene where Riley is building a house of cards while sitting at her dining room table. You may have to look closely, but the deck that she is using is one-of-a-kind. They have the faces of Riley, her mom and her dad as the King, Queen, and the Joker! The next one wasn’t actually an egg until a long two years after it came out!

    It Speaks For Seuss

In 2010, the hilarious "Despicable Me" came out. Margo, Gru’s oldest daughter, wears a shirt that has the Dr. Suess character, the Lorax, on it. The shirt was indeed a hint as to what the next upcoming film put out by Illumination Entertainment would be. Two years later, "The Lorax" hit the big screen.

  • Parents Say Their Children Were Taken Away Because They Themselves Have Low IQs

    media.galaxant.com_000_505_867_340x252-1511658601

There’s a lot of stigma around people with intellectual disabilities, especially when it comes to parenting.

Up to 80 percent of people with intellectual disabilities who choose to become parents wind up having their children taken out of the home, either for a short period of time or permanently. Despite the fact that those with intellectual disabilities are protected under the same laws surrounding marriage and family planning as the rest of us, many are not given the support they need or are judged harshly despite being able to care for their children.

Amy and Eric say their children, Christopher and Hunter, were taken from their home due to their low IQ scores. They say they were not neglectful, have regular high school diplomas, and have stable income.

An anonymous tip to Child and Family Services reported them for allegedly being unable to care for their son Christopher. He was placed in foster care, as was their second son, Hunter, almost as soon as he was born. As part of the review process, the parents were given IQ tests.

Eric has an IQ of 66, while Amy’s is 72. A “normal” range is 90-110. Legally and ethically, low IQ cannot be used against parents as the sole reason a child is taken out of the home.

Amy and Eric are fighting in court to regain custody of their children and to fight the stigma around intellectual disability. Learn more about this heartbreaking case below.

    video-player-present

    Youtube / Inside Edition

Without the specific facts of this case, it’s hard to know if these children should have been placed in foster care or not. Still, this fight is an important one with legal ramifications for thousands of parents across the country who face this stigma due to low IQ.

  • Uplifting Choir Of Strangers Brings A Little Bit Of Church To Their Local Sam’s Club

I grew up going to church several times every single week.

One of the parts of church services that made me feel connected to others was the singing. Whether or not you’re religious, you can’t deny that a good old gospel choir can send shivers down your spine. Some customers who were shopping at a Sam’s Club recently got an unexpected surprise when down one of the aisles everyone broke out into song.

These singers took everyone to church! It’s nice to see people coming together, especially during this time of year.

It’s that time of year again: the one where parents pull out the myth of Santa Claus.

Santa can be used to create Christmas magic or to encourage kids to be on their best behavior as we enter the holiday season. Still, if you think about it, the whole idea of Santa Claus doesn’t really make sense. I guess that’s why we grow out of it so quickly.

One little girl is already so over the lies, though. You may have seen Mila before — she’s a bonafide viral sensation known for her sassy attitude and speeches on a bunch of different topics. And boy does she have a lot to say about Jolly Old Saint Nick.

  • Here’s Exactly Why You Should Be Afraid Of The FCC’s Proposed Net Neutrality Repeal

    media.galaxant.com_000_505_904_340x252-1511746010

Since its invention, the internet has changed the world, connecting users across the globe and providing an endless source of information, communication and entertainment. But if certain people have their way, the internet as we know it may cease to exist in the near future.

What makes the internet so great is that it’s free and open. This means internet service providers (ISP) like AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon provide us with open networks that give us equal access to whichever sites we choose without restriction (given that the content is lawful) or preferential treatment for specific content and ideas. All of this is preserved by net neutrality, the internet’s guiding principle that enables and protects free speech and the free and equitable flow of information.

It took a decade’s worth of fighting for the Federal Trade Commission (FCC) to adopt strong net neutrality rules based on Title II of the Communications Act in 2015 — but the FCC plans to dismantle these regulations.

On November 21, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, who is also a former lawyer for Verizon, announced his plans to repeal net neutrality regulations that prevent ISPs from blocking or slowing web traffic and creating paid internet “fast lanes.”

“President Clinton got it right in 1996 when he established a free market-based approach to this new thing called the Internet, and the Internet economy we have is a result of his light-touch regulatory vision,” Pai said. “We saw companies like Facebook and Amazon and Google become global powerhouses precisely because we had light-touch rules that apply to this Internet. And the Internet wasn’t broken in 2015 when these heavy-handed regulations were adopted.”

However, this “light-touch” approach would give more control to the ISPs that have lobbied hard against net neutrality and challenged these rules in court. Pai’s plan is to scrap these strong rules, opting instead to basically assume ISPs won’t discriminate. Internet users would lose their protection, but they’re expected to trust the very companies that have already violated net neutrality before Title II was adopted. Not very comforting, is it?

So what will the future look like on the internet if this plan goes through? ISPs will be able to block websites, content or applications they don’t like or see as competition. They’ll also be able to charge users for access to certain sites.

If the FCC kills net neutrality, this is a fair representation of what the internet will look like and cost us as consumers. Business may have to pay a toll just to be able to reach their customers, putting smaller mom-and-pop companies and online retailers at a major disadvantage.

On Cyber Monday, Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr and hundreds of other businesses and organizations called for the FCC to stop plans for a net neutrality rollback in a letter to Pai. The agency will vote on whether or not to end net neutrality on December 14.

    (via Free Press and Politico)

You can join the fight for a free and open internet by writing and calling the FCC and your members of Congress to demand that Title II oversight and net neutrality be preserved. This helpful site provides all the phone numbers you need as well as a script to read from. You can also sign this petition and text RESIST to 504-09.

  • First There Was the ‘Will & Grace’ Debacle

From the Debra Messing mess to her Jane Fonda fiasco, it was a rough start.

Megyn Kelly didn’t have the smoothest transition from hard news reporter to morning show host in her first week on “Megyn Kelly TODAY.”

The former FOX News host got off to a cringeworthy start in her new gig at NBC, offending at least two of her high profile guests in as many days. The ratings haven’t been incredible either, though they’re not downright disastrous just yet. On two of its first three days, it came in behind “Live with Kelly and Ryan.” It’s also been losing viewers on a daily basis.

Let’s break down all the screw-ups and criticism Kelly faced during Week One.

For the show’s premiere episode, the cast and creators of the NBC show appeared for a Q&A with the host that many on Twitter described as “awkward.” Kelly caught the most backlash after bringing a superfan on stage to mingle with his idols. “Is it true that you became a lawyer — and you became gay — because of Will?” Kelly asked him. After awarding the guest a trip to Los Angeles and tickets to attend a taping of his favorite show, she added, “I think the ‘Will & Grace’ thing and the gay thing is going to work out great!”

Debra Messing spoke out about Kelly following the interview, responding to a fan on Instagram who asked, “Why did you guys do the Megyn Kelly show? That’s a fail!”

“Honestly I didn’t know it was MK until that morning,” Messing replied. “The itinerary just said Today Show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments.”

“She was obviously making a joke, that was clear to the ‘superfan’ – who was ecstatic – and the audience,” an insider close to production told TooFab.

Then Came Meme-Worthy Awkward Moment With Jane Fonda

On Wednesday’s show, she asked the 79-year-old Oscar-winning actress to detail what cosmetic surgery procedures she’s had done over the years, and the “Grace & Frankie” star was not having it. “We really want to talk about that now?” Jane Fonda told Kelly. “But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, ‘Our Souls at Night,’ rather than plastic surgery.”

Both Fonda and Robert Redford — who was a guest alongside Jane — later addressed the uncomfortable moment speaking with ET Canada. “Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up — whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not. I have and I’ve talked about it,” Fonda said. “Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question.”

“I think Jane didn’t want to go there. I think she didn’t want to have the show turn into about her, her surgery or her look,” added Redford. “It was about the quality of the performance.”

Fortunately for Kelly, at least fellow TV personalities Savannah Guthrie and Andy Cohen decided to defend her on “Watch What Happens Live” Thursday night.

“I would have asked that question, I have asked that question,” Cohen said.

Guthrie agreed and added, “Sometimes you ask questions in an interview and, live TV there’s awkward moments all the time. That’s live TV.”

    Young Love Lasts

Something about large families fascinates Americans. By this, we’re not talking about twins or triplets. We’re talking about families large enough to form a football team. That’s why shows like "19 Kids and Counting" and "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" have become such a fad. So, it’s not surprising when we hear that a new family, of large proportions, suddenly came into the spotlight. Their story will definitely surprise you!

    Young Love Lasts

    Brian Killian

Mia Shelby and Rozonno McGhee met when they were in high school. Rozonno loved Mia’s determination. “I used to see her walking down the hallway, and she always held books in her hands like she was on a mission.” The two began dating and soon realized their love was for real. They were married when they were 20, but it would be some time before they would expand their family.

    Rough Times

    Rough Times

Since both Mia and Rozonno were both raised by single mothers, their upbringing was kind of rough. Mia’s brothers found a life of crime, and Rozonno’s mother suffered from drug addiction. Because of that, they had to mature very early in life in order to survive. They grew to be strong, responsible adults, but they were still dealing with life’s obstacles.

They had spent a few years trying to conceive a child, but eventually they realized they needed external help to do so. The couple wasn’t financially wealthy, but they put their money, and faith, into fertility treatments. After a couple of tries, Mia became pregnant with twins! It seemed like their prayers were answered, but soon tragedy would find them.

    Not Just One

Unfortunately, the twins did not make it, due to premature delivery. The McGhees were heartbroken, but that wouldn’t stop their desire to have a family. They decided to try again, and once again, Mia became pregnant. This time the couple was in for a big surprise! They were pregnant with sextuplets! When their children were born safe and healthy, the parents were ecstatic. Soon, an uneasy feeling would start to sink in.

How in the world could they take care of six children? Rozonno had a carpet cleaning and upholstery business, but in order to take care of the kids, Mia had to quit her job. The babies went through an incredible amount of diapers a day, and they consumed even more formula. Regardless of all that, they felt blessed. Their next decision would turn their world upside down.

In order to celebrate their large family, they had a small photo shoot with their six children. The photo of Mia sitting and Rozonno laying down with all of their children was sent to both of their families. It was so beautiful that it was soon made viral. The McGhees were in utter shock when a bigtime celebrity was knocking at their door.
